During this project we were given the task of finding a solution to a world problem that we are facing in the world. To do this we each individual were tasked with researching a total of 3 different world problems, then we each went farther into detail about one of our topics and found solutions then when we each had chosen a topic and had solutions we compared it to others in our group and chose one issue and solution to it. After we found our topic we then went farther into detail as a group into the topic and solution we came up with and looked at it in depth to find all that needed to be done in order to use it solve our problem.
Reflection
This project as a whole was very fun and a satisfying conclusion our sophomore year at S.T.E.M. Marin. This was because it made good use of the biotechnology skills we have learned throughout the year as we had look at all the variables required make something like the bacteria we were using do what we wanted it do. This meant I had to look at things differently then how I usually do. However there was still ups and downs in this project, for example I often felt a bit side tracked on the project looking at specific details to make sure everything worked out well. This happened a lot during the making of the slide show when we choosing pictures for each of the slides as repeatedly remember spending many minutes choosing each of the images so they would look good for the power point. I also ran into repeated problems with keeping my teammate on task as there were quite a few times where he spent long stretches of time between activities on his phone. To fix this for next time I could try to be a bit louder and voice my opinion more clearly then what I previously did. There were also many upside with this project as well for example I didn't dominate every conversations and group decisions this time around like usually do. This is do primarily to my group mate who was a friend of mine and knew how to not be taken over by my pressing opinion and call me on my mistakes. I also did great job at preparing for the presentation as me and my group mate had a great work ethic during this project causing us to easily finish the prep work for the presentation early and allowed us to spend a lot of time adding detail on the slides and editing them so they can be as good as possible. This positive work ethic also allowed us to do many practice presentations as well allowing us to polish what we want to say well as well.
